Why Waiting to Move Is a Bad Idea
Three reasons why you should make your move now instead of waiting.
Timing is crucial to any good investment. But when it comes to real estate, letting time fly can cost you a fortune. So, if you’re planning to move to a new home anytime soon, I’m here to tell you today that now is the best time to do so. Here are three reasons why waiting to move is a bad idea:
1. Home prices are rising. Buyers often make the mistake of waiting for home prices to go down before buying. But it's important to know that even with the current rates, it's still a seller's market. There are fewer homes for sale than there are buyers, so prices keep going up. Historically, prices have always increased. The times that they do decrease are quite rare, often signifying deep economic turmoil. So, if you wait until next year, chances are your home will cost even more.
2. Interest rates will not decrease soon. There is no sign that interest rates will drop anytime soon, unless the country faces another economic crisis. This means that if you wait one to two years to buy a home, interest rates will either remain at the same level or increase significantly. With this projection, homes will likely be more expensive in addition to possibly higher rates, so waiting to buy a home will put you at a financial disadvantage.

3. Start building equity sooner. Another advantage of moving sooner rather than later is if you buy a home that you can afford with the current interest rates, you get to build equity sooner. If you’re only buying without having to sell your current home, this process will be a lot easier for you. By buying a home now, you get to lock in the current rates and still have the option of refinancing later if interest rates drop in the future. The bottom line is if you’re planning to move in a couple of years, but you have the ability to do it sooner, then now is the best time.
